Kaup, Dec 29, 2022: A bus owner lost his life after he was knocked down by a speeding car on the National Highway 66 at Kaup on December 28, Wednesday night.

The deceased is Mahendra Kumar Indra (60), owner of Mahaveera Bus. He was residing near the Kaup Jain Basadi.

The mishap took place at around 7 pm when Mahendra Kumar was about to return home. The car on way to Mangaluru knocked him down close by his house. When Mahendra Kumar’s brother Jeevandhar who was at home rushed out to see what happened, he saw his brother in a pool of blood.

Though he was immediately rushed to a hospital in Udupi and from there to the Manipal Hospital his life could not be saved.

Mahendra Kumar is survived by his wife, a son and daughter. The driver of the car who was responsible for the accident has been taken into custody.
