Kundapur, April 09, 2023: The body of a student of a private college in Mangaluru who had reportedly drowned at Koosalli Falls in Yadtare village of Byndoor taluk on April 7, Friday where he had been with his friends to enjoy the holiday, was traced on April 8, Saturday.

The deceased is Chiranth Shetty (20), son of Kumara Shetty, ASI of Koppa taluk in Chikkamagalur district. Chiranth was a second year B.Com student of Sri Devi College in Mangaluru and was also pursuing Aviation Course. He was staying in a PG accommodation.

On Thursday, he and his PG mates Keerthan Devadiga, Akshay Poojary and classmates Alwyn, Dharan and Reyan had been to Byndoor and spent the night in Akshay’s house. On Friday afternoon they had lunch in Keerthan’s house and had been to Koosalli Falls in the afternoon in their bikes. It is learnt except Chiranth others did not know swimming and were sitting on the banks while Chiranth went close to the water and eventually drowned.

Fire service personnel and locals have launched a search for Chiranth. Byndoor Police have registered a case.
