Bantwal, Aug 22, 2023: A woman who was seriously injured in an ambulance accident on the National Highway near Vagga last Friday, has succumbed in the hospital.

The deceased is Mariamma (80), wife of late Hassan, a resident of Sunkadakatte. Last Friday she had suffered chest pain following which she was rushed to a private hospital in Guruvayanakere. Doctors who examined her on finding blockage in heart had recommended taking her to a hospital in Mangaluru. Accordingly she was being shifted to hospital in an ambulance driven by Shabeer. However the ambulance went out of control of the driver hit a compound wall and had overturned, Shabeer had later died in the hospital.

Mariamma who had sustained serious head injuries was admitted to KMC where she died. Her son Razak who was accompanying her, has suffered a fracture in his hand.
