Mangaluru, Aug 14, 2023: The indefinite dharna undertaken by BJP legislators of the district alleging infringement of their rights, has been withdrawn following an assurance from the Deputy Commissioner, informed Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

Speaking to reporters, Nalin accused the Siddaramaiah government of resorting to hate politics and curtailing the rights of legislators. He said an inaugural programme at Irvattur Gram Panchayat of Bantwal and Iruvail Gram Panchayat of Moodbidri were cancelled on grounds of protocol and officials were suspended. Though officials had extended invitation as per protocol, the programme was cancelled by the DC office all of a sudden just because the name of the Rural Development Minister was missing, he alleged.

Nalin alleged interference in the constituencies of all six BJP legislators of the district. He said the protest has been withdrawn following a request by the DC. The suspension order must be revoked by evening lest protest will continue tomorrow, Nalin warned.
