Mangaluru, Aug 08, 2023: As a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease in cattle, transportation of cattle from Kerala to Dakshina Kannada district and from the district to Kerala has been banned. Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has issued an order to this effect.

As foot and mouth disease has affected cattle in Kerala there is a higher possibility of the virus spreading to cattle in Dakshina Kannada and proving fatal. In this backdrop the transportation has been banned, the DC has said.
