Mangaluru, Nov 10, 2022: The DK District Congress Committee’s Labour Cell will be holding a Janagraha Meet on November 12 against what it termed the anti-labour policies of the ruling BJP governments at the state and the Centre.
Lawrence D’Souza, District President of the Labour Cell who spoke to reporters at the party office on November 10, Thursday said the meet would be held in front of the KIOCL at Kulur at 3 pm. The event will be participated by the party’s Labour Cell state chief Puttaswamy Gowda, KPCC Vice President Madhu Bangarappa, former minister Priyank Kharge and other party leaders.
He said the anti-labour and anti-industries policy of the BJP governments have brought many industries on the brink of closure. The levying of 45% export duty on export of pellets has led to suspension of production at KIOCL since five months bringing a sense of insecurity among the 1600 workers of the factory. The industrial areas of the district have turned into godowns of industrial units for want of facilities, he said.
He also expressed resentment over the fact that jobs to the displaced has been dropped in the land acquisition package of MRPL 5th phase extension.
No new investments are coming to the district forcing local youth to travel to other states in search of employment, he said.
The state executive committee meeting of the Congress Labour Cell will be held on November 12 at 10.30 am at the Congress Bhavan at Mallikatte, he said.
DCC Chief Harish Kumar and other party leaders were present.
