Mangaluru, Sep 08, 2023: A gang of masked dacoits who barged into a house at Kudkady in Badagannur Gram Panchayat limits of Puttur taluk has robbed cash and valuables from the house after tying down the mother and son who were in the house.

The dacoity took place in the house of Guruprasad Rai, former member of Gram Panchayat. At around 2 am on September 7, the dacoits who were eight in number, forcibly entered the house from the front door and tied down Guruprasad and his mother and robbed the house at knife point. A cash of Rs 40,000 and 15 sovereigns of gold has been robbed by the dacoiits.

Before leaving the dacoits dropped Guruprasad’s mobile phone in water. The robbers were in the house for nearly one and a half hour. The house is in a deserted place. A worker whom Guruprasad had employed had left work three days ago and had reportedly returned to his hometown Kasargod.

SP Rishyanth and other senior officials have visited the spot and investigations are underway. The robbers were speaking in Tulu and Kannada.
