Dalit leader Deekaiah death case : Govt orders CoD probe

Belthangady, Nov 07, 2022: The Karnataka Government has ordered a CoD investigation into the death of senior Dalit leader P Deekaiah.

It may be recalled here that Deekaiah was found motionless on the floor of his house on July 6 when other occupants were away. Though he was rushed to the hospital he had breathed his last after two days. It is said he had suffered head injuries.

Though his last rites were performed at Poyya of Kaniyoor village on July 9 after donating his organs, his mortal remains were exhumed on July 15 for a post-mortem in the presence of the Tahsildar after family members expressed suspicion over the cause of the death and sought a CoD enquiry.

Accordingly the government has ordered a CoD probe on November 4 and has asked the Belthangady police to hand over all records pertaining to this case to the CoD.
