Mangaluru, Oct 30, 2022: Known for his pro-active approach and thorough knowledge of the functioning of the Mangalore City Corporation, Naveen R D’Souza is indeed the right person for the post of the opposition leader. He has been unanimously elected as the opposition leader in MCC by the District Congress.
Elected four times as member of the city corporation since 2002 from Bendore Ward, Naveen D’Souza has been AICC youth wing’s national coordinator, Secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee and member of MCC standing committee, tax-finance and health committee member apart from handling various responsibilities in the party. Currently, he is serving as KPCC convenor and Mangalore Catholic diocese member.
As the opposition leader in MCC now, he has assured to work towards the fulfilment of the promises made and assurances given by his party in its manifesto prior to the MCC elections. Naveen says he would utilise the time to draw an action plan for the development of the city during his period. There is no denying that more than being a politician, he is known for his genuine concern towards the well-being and progress of the society.
As a Corporator of Bendore ward, Naveen has been immensely popular by initiating various developmental works in the better interests of the ward. There remains no doubt that the developmental initiatives taken by him in his ward and his ever helpful nature by being available at the services of his people at any time, would serve as a model to many fellow as well as aspiring politicians.
He is one of the most popular of the young brigade of the Congress in the city and has won much acclaim for his public works and his efforts to feel the pulse of the people. A graduate, Naveen D’Souza has been active in politics since the past 25 years and elected to the MCC four times. Naveen D’Souza, though was capable of handling the post of Mayor even during the earlier terms of the Congress in the MCC, never got an opportunity to rise to the post, probably because his straightforward nature were not acceptable to many. Belonging to the Catholic community, he was tipped for the MLA seat; however he did not get through the screening process last time. Will he ever get to that seat is yet another matter.
