Mangaluru, Aug 08, 2023: The Additional District and Sessions court has sentenced a 31 year old man from Jeppinamogaru to three years imprisonment on the charges of sexually harassing a minor girl and also taking 30 sovereigns of gold ornaments from her family members.

The convict is Roshan D’Souza alias Roshan Fernandes. It was alleged that he had befriended a Christian girl who was going to college by making her believe that he too was of her faith and was a software engineer. He had later managed to get 86 grams gold ornaments from her family members. On March 12, 2016 he had sexually harassed the girl who later informed the matter to her family members following which a complaint was lodged.

During investigation it came to light that he was not a software engineer but a supplier at a catering firm.

Apart from three years imprisonment, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 5000 on the accused. The court has also directed the government to pay Rs 50,000 compensation to the victim.
